Leadership Training Program
Leadership Training Program (LT): A Unique Opportunity
The LT Program offers an invaluable experience for those who have outgrown being campers but aren’t yet eligible to be counselors. It’s a demanding role that is both challenging and rewarding, providing a chance to develop leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of camp life.
In the words of a former LT:
“Being an LT was challenging. You wake up before everyone early and go to bed after everyone else. You work behind the scenes and have to do many jobs. HOWEVER, if you want to work with children who love you and men who are great leaders while learning what it takes to lead it is a great opportunity for that. There is a lot of work, but some fun, too!"
What Are My Responsibilities?
As an LT, your role is integral to the smooth running of camp. Responsibilities include:
-
Supporting Counselors: Assist counselors with their cabin of young campers by helping with morning routines, including making beds, and preparing for the day’s activities.
-
Dining Hall Duties: Help prepare the dining hall for meals, serve refills during meals, and clear tables afterward.
-
Routine Tasks: Participate in setting up events, handing out treats after rest period, and maintaining the dining hall.
-
Class Assistance: Sometimes rotate through various classes, helping to teach and manage activities. First Year LTs live together in a cabin. Second Year LTs live in cabins with campers and go to activities with them.
-
Variety of Duties: Engage in a range of tasks that keep camp running smoothly.
